I assume your services start up without errors at boot and syslog/dmesg 
do not complain.

Is polkit (or should it be xfce-polkit) running to help you authenticate 
fully on your desktop?

ps axf | grep polkit

Other than the above I'm not sure what else it could be.  :-/
