I have a additional question.  Let's say the init thingy broke for some 
reason and I had to boot some rescue media to fix it.  What is the 
correct dracut command to use so that it will create the correct 
options?  I'm assuming using the option that was just removed wouldn't 
work since it would get the wrong info from the rescue media.  I've read 
the man page but I'm not for sure how that works. Is it as simple as 
dracut root=UUID=<UUID for root file system> and that's it?

I've had problems with init thingy years ago when using Mandrake. They 
would fail for whatever reason and I had no idea how to fix them.  With 
Gentoo and dracut, so far it has been smooth sailing.  I think I had one 
that the file got corrupted or something and I just created a new one 
that worked, by booting from a older kernel.  Even tho I have older 
kernels, something could happen to my /boot partition and I have to copy 
over new kernels, create new init thingys and all that.  I'd kinda like 
to see if I have a general idea of how to do that from a rescue media.

Thanks to anyone who can reply and let me know if I'm on the right track 
or not.
