Last update.  I did do something wrong.  It's the most important part 
and what was at the start of this change.  I forgot to add the 
--hostonly-cmdline to my alias so that it would include that info.  It's 
amazing how well it worked after I did that.

I have also rebooted and the init thingy worked, it also switched to the 
real root and is operating normally.  So, everything is working as it 
should.
