You can modify your windows switching via Plasma's SystemSettings > 
Window Management > Task Switcher.

When I press Alt+Tab I get a pop-up in the middle of the screen showing 
a horizontal list with thumbnails of all the open windows.  The window 
next to the one which is active is highlighted in the thumbnail list.  
Also, this is the only window remaining on the desktop, all the others 
are no longer visible.

If I press Tab again while keeping Alt depressed, the next application's 
window will be selected in the thumbnail pop-up and the corresponding 
application window will be become visible on the desktop.  All other 
application windows will be invisible.

I think this is the default Plasma desktop/Window Manager behaviour.
