SuSE 8.2 and PCG-R505EL

From previous posts, I gather that installing SuSE 8.2 on a PCG-R505EL is fairly straightforward thanks to SuSE's full support for ACPI and such. A few questions: 1. Can one install directly from the DVDROM drive in the docking station, or must one do a network install (as I did with RH 7.3)? 2. Are there any significant issues with SuSE 8.2 and the PCG-R505EL of which one should be aware? 3. Is SuSE the only distro that is "Vaio-friendly" at this point?
