strange thing about rh9

a few days ago I wrote down some words complaining
that my machine cannot shutdown under rh9.well I
reinstall it,but make it the only OS instead of
keeping a winxp.this time my machine can do its
shutdown ,but i can`t get the right battery info.The
apmd always reports "AC on-line" .Is there any trick
or is it a bug but have some other way instead? my
machine srx55tc
