Certainly not. The freeze happens at the very beginning of the boot
process, while init is not yet launched.
If I enable the Radeon framebuffer, the freeze happens as the video mode
is switched to a higher resolution (still during the boot process). If
I disable it in the configuration (or by specifying vga=0), I can see
that it freezes just after ACPI setup.
