SWSusp and the SuSE Kernel?

Can the SWSusp scripts at http://sourceforge.net/projects/swsusp/ be
used with the standard SuSE 8.2 kernel?  Or do I need to go to
kernel.org, get 2.4.20 and apply all the patches the I need in addition
to the kernel patch for SWSusp...?
