Well, it all seems to work now. I don't know exactly what I did differently,
but I tried reconfiguring the card again and it now works at high resolution.
Render is supported too.

SuSE also found my Epson scanner and dealt nicely with my Lucent wireless
card.  It didn't know what to do with the Linmodem, but that's easily dealt
with from the shell prompt and a visit to the Conexant website
