Hmm here's what another user of this model said from alt.computer:

"No way.  Those are *horrible* numbers for this model.  Mine gets a good
2 hours+ when in good use, long enough that I can watch a complete DVD.
While I was working in class last night I was at 40% battery with over
an hour left."

This is using Windows XP, but like I mentioned before I was only getting 
an hour and thirty minutes max in XP. Looks like I'm going to be sending 
it in to have SONY look at it. Maybe a bad batch? Jay if you haven't 
thrown out the box your notebook came in, would you mind looking at the 
batch number? Here's what mine says:

"BATCH :C083830
28-30-092-03 A"
