Has anyone made a PCG-FXA36 optimized 2.4.21 kernel; moving partitions around

Has anyone got an optimal 2.4.21 version kernel (or a
config file to make one) for the PCG-FXA36? I have
everything working (haven't tried FiWi but bet it's
good!), but would like to optimize/streamline/tweak it
till it bleeds. I'm running Mandrake 9.1, using KDE,
and have usb, sound, multimedia, dvd, cd
burning/ripping/rewriting, dsl internet via 100baseT
ethernet port. Haven't used PCMCIA yet, haven't used
firewire yet, DO have Logitec usb optical wheel mouse
working fine, w/ wheel/middle button functionality.
(If anyone needs any info, lemme know what/where and
I'll send it.)

BTW, I can't change screen res on the "fly" w/ <ctl>
<alt> <-/+> like once upon a time (way back, 486-100
slackware, c. 1994). I can change with Mandrake
Control Center, but no larger than 1024x768, 32 bpp.
No biggie, but why won't it work?
(UPDATE - IT DOES WORK! Have to use numpad -/+, which
means I have to hit numlock... Damn, I'm dumb.)

Next, I've got my /home on a separate (too small)
partition, and was wondering what would be the best
way to migrate it to the partition housing my / .
I've lots of room there, and not much on the partition
with /home. Here's my fstab:

/dev/hda5 / ext3 noatime 1 1
/dev/hda6 /boot ext2 noatime 1 2
none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0
/dev/hda7 /home ext2 noatime 1 2
/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/cd /mnt/cdrecorder
auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0
none /mnt/cdrom supermount
dev=/dev/scd0,fs=auto,ro,--,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,umask=0
0 0
none /mnt/floppy supermount
dev=/dev/fd0,fs=auto,--,iocharset=iso8859-1,sync,codepage=850,umask=0
0 0
/dev/hda1 /mnt/win_c vfat
iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/hda8 swap swap defaults 0 0

and my df
[dan@vaio dan]$ df
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda5 10G 5.3G 4.3G 55% /
/dev/hda6 84M 2.4M 77M 3% /boot
/dev/hda7 61M 25M 37M 41% /home
/dev/hda1 7.8G 5.5G 2.4G 70% /mnt/win_c

Don't ask... ;)
Will ext3 and ext2 present a problem?

And lastly (for now) would it be wise/good/fun to
migrate my relatively unchanging system directories to
a cd-r, and use it as a boot/live type thing? Not
that I'm hurting for space yet, but I think it would
be a cool exercise. It would probably make cd
writing/ripping harder/impossible, but I was just
wondering.

And, very last, is there an optimal way to make a
boot/rescue cd-r vice floppy? I have the floppy
drive, but am trying to avoid _ever_ buying a floppy
disk again, and I'd like to use the MandrakeConfig
utility to make my media.
