Im not sure if this will help because im using a 2.6.x kernel
but I had to put this in my /etc/modules.conf

options i810_audio clocking=48000

the i810_audio driver was misdetecting the sample rate, thus making the
sound play for a second at a slower rate then skipping to catch up.
