As I experienced it with my GRX316, the brightness has a
low impact on the energy consumption. To reduce the energy
consumption significantly, you have to switch of the back-
light. This happens when the lid is closed.

But you have to be aware of the fact that continually
switching on an off the backlight harms the sensible elec-
tronic cicuits of the display by changing the temperature.
