PCG-C1VE is definately a type 1 device.  It is basically the European
version of the PCG-C1VN.  Here are some Linux related pages about this

On my C1VP sonypi module would not load with 2.4.21 until I added APIC
(that's APIC not ACPI).  Why this is needed I don't know, but you will
get unknown symbols if you don't add APIC to you kernel.  Since I don't
know the exact error that you are getting I don't know if this will fix
you Bram.
