battdepot in the US stocks the same battery; I'll order
three, and an AC adapter, and see how well they work.

The battery now installed in my X61 reports Sanyo 92P1003 .
What does yours report?

Thanks to everyone who responded. 

Thinkpads attract good people; working together, we can
keep our laptops going long after Lenovo abandons us. 
Perhaps until 3-D printing improves enough to make
our own spares and upgrades.
