Just a quick few things to add.
If you use a recent wacom driver getting the right-mouse button working 
is as simple as running "xsetwacom set stylus TPCButton 0"

I've also got ir working fine using:

smcinit
modprobe ircomm-tty
setserial /dev/ttyS1 port 0x3f8 uart 16550a autoconfig
irattach /dev/ttyS1 -s

Which puts it on ttyS1 so it doesn't get confused with the tablet
