In principal you certainly are right !
Might sound to your ears like: "Hey I'm proud to
announce I've solved my problem, but if you want to
solve *yours*, find out yourselve, coz I'm not ready

Reason I didn't point to the HOW-TO source was not
because I'm antisocial though, but:
1. Found this locally (/usr/doc/Linux-mini-HOWTOs/
XFree86-Second-Mouse), as part of the
slack-package "linux-mini-howtos-xxx"
2. Don't know if exactly the same applies when using
Xorg instead of XFree86
However I googled and found exactly same doc here:
