- check that you are in the same ip-range (e.g. 192.168.0.X), for each
  of your machines, hereby X denotes values between 1 and 254
- if so, try to ping each machine, with ping command (man ping) -- it is
  available also on MS
- if you got ping, you should check if you have started any firewall on
  anyone of the computers in your lan
