I am using Mandriva 2006 in the laptop.

I think that the 2.6 kernel of Ubuntu (at least one of them) should have 
all that things configured so:

1) Try.
2) Download the official source (linux-headers? kernel-source?) and 
check it out in the config file (I think it is:
	cat /usr/src/linux/.config | grep ACPI  )
3) Request it in Ubuntu's bugzilla. It *should* be activated!
4) Do it soon! I am planning to move my laptop to Kubuntu ;)
