Try Ubuntu/Kubuntu.
On my Satellite S5200-902 it was the most recognizing HW.

Wi-Fi with ndiswrapper works fine.
Fn keys work (not all).
Battery & sytem control is Ok with gkrellm.
acpi Ok, power off OK (suspend not verified).
usb floppy and memory stick OK
CD-DVD recorder with k3b OK.

Nvidia drivers natively supported
