	The Toshiba Linux utilities are specific to Toshiba laptops, and
will 	not run on laptops from other manufactures. In addition they will
not 	run on Satellite 16xx, 17xx, 3000 and 35DVD machines from Toshiba
either. These models sport Pheonix BIOS'es and are made in that part 	of
China that is not part of China. In short they are not true Toshiba
laptops and are unlikely to ever be supported by the Toshiba Linux
Utilities.

My machine is one of those dreadful 35DVD machines with the alien Pheonix
BIO'es  So you can see I am at a quandary.  I just had the machine in for
service and they replaced the dvd but I don't know if the blew out the
vents.  As it is this machine tends to run hot, but the powers to be where I
bought it claim the all do.  I don't know what tempatures are safe and what
are not, can anyone offer any information on what temps are good and/or bad.

John, after you do your installation, you should download the little
program simply called fan for toshiba linux machines. It was written by
the same guy that wrote the Tuxtime utils. Have a look here:
