Quick and dirty translation (actually, I am Spanish and I don't speak
italian at all ;), with some help from google[*]. Also, you may wish to
contact the original author if you have any doubts since I may have
misunderstood important sentences.

------------------------------------------------
Thanks to the work of the amazing KesieV, who has resumed the abandoned
SBS (Smart Battery) project and has adapted it to the kernel 2.6.16.

I promise everything works perfectly now...it is not even required to
replace the DSDT table.

First, download the file acpi_sbs-20060419-kesiev.tar.bz2 provided by
KesieV. Uncompress the file and apply the patch to kernel 2.6.16

# patch /path-to-linux-sources/drivers/acpi/ec.c
/path-to-acpi_sbs-xxxxxxxx/patch-sbs-2.6.16.diff

If you encounter problems applying the patch, you may also just copy the
files already patched by KesieV from the bz2 file.

# cp -v /path-to-acpi_sbs-xxxxxxxx/ec.c /path-to-linux-sources/drivers/acpi/

Next, recompile the kernel taking care of *disabling* the modules ac and
battery. You may use my own configuration. Now, compile the module in
the bz2 archive with:

# cd /path-to-acpi_sbs-xxxxxxxx/
# make && make install

Now, reboot the computer just to be sure and during startup, load the
modules as soon as possible:

#/sbin/modprobe i2c_acpi_ec
#/sbin/modprobe acpi_sbs

dmesg should show something similar to:
  base: 0x18 alert: 0x20
i2c-acpi-ec.c: ACPI EC SMBus adapter at 0x18
eth1: link down
ACPI: Smart Battery System [SBS0]
ACPI: Smart Battery Charger [SBC]
ACPI: Smart Battery Selector [SBSEL]
ACPI: Smart Battery Slot [SB0] (battery present)

Check out the directories /proc/acpi/battery/ and /proc/acpi/ac_adapter/
and enjoy!!!

In order to automatically load the modules during startup, add the
relevant lines to your rc.local scripts. Now you can see your precious
battery from KDE!
