Thanks for your replies.
Here are some specs about the sound device :

laptop : Toshiba Satellite P100-JR51 Centrino Duo 1.66Ghz
model : Conexant CX20551

Apparently there is a bug report in the alsa project:

If anybody has more info, please let us know.
