To one and all....

At last I've found a solution to my install problem -- at least with SuSE
10.0.  I found that IRQ 10 was being disabled during boot for reasons I
haven't identified.  When installing with ACPI active, two USB ports and my
sound module were being assigned to IRQ 10.  I found the sequence of IRQ
assignments in "/var/log/messages", as well as a notation to try "irqpoll"
as a boot parameter.  By adding this to "/boot/grub/menu.lst" my problem
with sound and USB was solved.

It looks like recent Linux kernels and my Toshiba can't play nice without
this work-around.  Not sure why, but I'm now a happy camper.
