I have the same machine and F5 too.
Fnfxd not work for fan to me too, but screen bright work ok.
For net parameters go to System > Administration > Network put your root 
pasw and select your device normally eth0 click on edit tab and there 
you configure your LAN.
If some body know how to do fnfxd work for fan , thanks
