Been doing so for, say, more or less three weeks, finding a wide range
of resources on that error, including recommendations including
SMP/HyperThreading, messing with the kill-switch of the built-in
wireless module, removing firewire/ohci1394 drivers (due to interrupt
conflicts) and several others. 

So far, these hints either apply to situations or hardware setup
that doesn't fit mine (my board is not SiS based), or they simply don't
work for me (rmmod'ing ohci1394 is same as unsuccessful as is switching
on/off the wireless module). That's why I was hoping for someone around
here to use (ideally) the same machine as I do to possibly know about
this...
