You can choose some value between 1 and 14.
#modprobe omnibook ectype=01
And if /proc/omnibook continue empty, you need remove omnibook (#rmmod
omnibook) and load again with another ectype value:
#modprobe omnibook ectype=02

My omnibook have this files:
$ls /proc/omnibook/
bluetooth  display  dmi  hotkeys  lcd  version  wifi
