[tlinux-users:08346] bios password

Hi, 

I know that this may not be related to Linux, but I think there are many 
people in the list that could know why such a problem occurs.

I have a Satellite L10-205 with Intel board in it. Last week, I wanted to 
renew my gentoo by installing everything starting from a new partition table. 
Everything was going well until that bios asked me for supervisor password 
after a reboot which made me greatly startle. 

I disassembled the laptop, found the rtc battery, removed for some seconds, 
and reassembled everything, and the computer booted up very well after that 
this morning. I shut it down and left for work. When I rebooted the laptop, 
it asked again for the password at bios. :S

I suspect that the OS causes this error, as it was the first time I booted 
into the OS after the clock resetting, but of course I make this inference 
believing that the bios password could have been set by the OS, but why?

Any ideas?
