Same for me with the FN keys.
The brightness actually adjusts to the power scheme I am using depending on
if I am using battery or wall power.
Also the built in DVD player works without having to go to any operating
system.

Azael, I have a Toshiba M45-S355 and Fn+Fx and Multimedia HotKeys don't
work to me, but I can change brightness using omnibook module
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/omnibook).

The brightness can change writen in /proc/omnibook/lcd.
