Talking about omnibook module:

#cat /proc/omnibook/lcd
LCD brightness:  0 (max value: 7)

#echo 5 >> /proc/omnibook/lcd

#cat /proc/omnibook/lcd
LCD brightness:  5 (max value: 7)

Only do this:

Unload toshiba_acpi:
#modprobe -r toshiba_acpi

$svn export https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/omnibook/omnibook/trunk

Enter in directory "trunk" created by command below, run "make" and
"make install" (you need Kernel Sources).

I don't remember if is necessary use #modprobe omnibook.

And now, see if is created directory /proc/omnibook
