[tlinux-users:08385] asking help for Linux installation on Toshiba M100

Hello, I'm new to this community. hope that I can get help from you
and I'm glad to share everything I can to help others :)

I've just bought a Toshiba M100 laptop (Core2 T5500/ 1G ram/ 80G SATA
disk/ DVD+-RW/ Card Reader/ Bluetooth/ 802.11/ etc.), and tring to
install LINUX on it.

However, Installation of "Kubuntu 6.10-desktop" is very successuful
but the booting-up process halt at a certain position when loading
some thing and I can not even normally get access to the login window.

And then I tried "Redhat Enterprise AS4"----the installaton also
succeed but again failed at booting-up. When the screen showing
"initializing Hardwares...storage, network", the system halts and can
not even response to "Ctrl+C" keypress.

I wonder if there is something wrong with the "network"? or Toshiba
laptops are uncommon that need some other process to be done before
installation? BTW, I've tried Microsoft Windows XP on the laptop and
everything works well.

I'd be very glad if anyone could give me some advice, or showing me
some probable available distributions can could work on the Toshiba M
