That might just be an issue with DHCP -- possibly the laptop is trying to retrieve an IP address but is failing to do so. DHCP should eventually time out -- how long are you waiting before deciding that it's gotten stuck? Also, it could be an issue with linux trying to detect/install the card -- wireless or otherwise. Just to experiment: try booting up with it on a network with a DHCP server (if you haven't already tried this). Also, try disabling the network cards in the BIOS to see if it gets past that point in the boot process. Once you are in Linux you might be able to fix up the boot process, re-enable the network devices in the bios and then boot up normally. ??? wrote: > Hello, I'm new to this community. hope that I can get help from you > and I'm glad to share everything I can to help others :) > > I've just bought a Toshiba M100 laptop (Core2 T5500/ 1G ram/ 80G SATA > disk/ DVD+-RW/ Card Reader/ Bluetooth/ 802.11/ etc.), and tring to > install LINUX on it. > > However, Installation of "Kubuntu 6.10-desktop" is very successuful > but the booting-up process halt at a certain position when loading > some thing and I can not even normally get access to the login window. > > And then I tried "Redhat Enterprise AS4"----the installaton also > succeed but again failed at booting-up.
