Thanks, Andrea. Alas, I can't find any reference to the needed display
specs in either the User Guide (mirrored as sp6100_c6639-1202m2.pdf) or
the Detailed Specs (satellitepro_6100.pdf) on the Toshiba site.

Am I looking in the wrong place?

 ### Comment all HorizSync and VertSync values to use DDC:
        HorizSync 31.5 - 90.0
        VertRefresh 60.0 - 60.0
        Option "dpms"
EndSection
My guess is that Puppy is a version of X behind. Suggest you document
what you can to puppylinux.org forum (I may as well).

Looking at /var/log/xorg.0.log, I saw reams of specs discarded (and the
wrong one selected), presumably from some table either in the Xserver
subsystem or gleaned from the display EDID firmware. '31.5 - 90' I see
in there but 60-60 (although about right for a panel, I guess) isn't...

The key to getting this sorted out is getting Toshiba's display data!

Thanks to you both,
