[tlinux-users:08467] Ubuntu 7.04 on Satellite A105-S4074

After trying and giving up on Debian and Gentoo, I've successfully
installed Ubuntu 7.04 "Feisty Fawn" on my Satellite A105-S4074.

Just about everything worked out of the box: sound, graphics card,
Ethernet and wireless networking.

I do have two remaining questions:

1) Screen resolution.  This Satellite has a cinema display; Ubuntu
installed xserver-xorg-video-i810 by default, and the aspect ratio looked
right, but the resolution seems too low.  The Screen Resolution
Preferences panel and the xorg.conf file only show 1280x800 resolution as
the highest option.  I installed xserver-xorg-video-intel (which caused
-i810 to uninstall) and rebooted, and still have the same problem.  It
seems - based on what I see in Windows XP - as though I could be getting
much higher resolution out of this thing.  Any tips?

2) Wireless networking.  Although the system finds the local unencrypted
wireless network without a problem when I prompt it to, I have to
ifdown/ifup to make that happen.  What can I do to help it find the
wireless networks at bootup or at least login?
