I have a Toshiba Satellite A85-S1072. This laptop has an ATI 9000 IGP
graphics board.

I've been trying to get HW acceleration working for several years on
this machine. The open-source drivers support it, the proprietary ATI
drivers don't. However, even though it's supported by the open drivers,
I still can't get it to work. 

Xorg sees the card, initializes the card, and enables 2D acceleration,
but fails to initialize 3D and gives an error about being "unable to
initialize the AGP bus".

After much experimentation and perusing my dmesg log, I've found that
apparently the kernel doesn't like my AGP bus, as on boot I get this
message: 

"agpgart: Unsupported Ati chipset (device id: 7831)"  

I've tried all the obscure tricks floating around in an attempt to get
3D working, but to no avail, so I'm positive it's not a simple solution.
I know from other reports that this particular card (9000 IGP) works
under Linux on different machines, so it appears to be a model-specific
issue. 

I'm positive that this is an agpgart/nonstandard AGP chipset issue. I'm
currently running Gentoo, kernel version 2.6.20.

My question(s) are: 
Is there something non-standard about this machine that I should know? 
Should I bug the kernel AGP guys about this?

I'm attaching the output of lspci for starters.
I'd be happy to provide any other output/logs to any who need them.
