If you need to attach a CRT (or might need to) then you're
going to have to set a higher Vertical Refresh rate (or get
eyestrain) but if you aren't going to be attaching one then
I don't see the need to worry about it because it is never
going to matter.

I'm not sure how many computers bought recently will ever
be hooked up to a CRT, but I suspect it isn't many (the
most commonly connected monitors will be LCD screens and
projectors) so it doesn't seem to me to be very justified
taking time to solve a problem that probably won't even
show up unless you have reason to believe it will.
