What I did, with a similar Satellite, is put in the "System restore" disk
and reinstall Vista. When you do it, you are offered an option to use the entire
disk for Vista, or a portion. It lets you select down to 20 gigs for Vista.

So it will install a 1 gig maintenance partition as /dev/sda1, and a 20 gig /dev/sda2
for Vista.

Then install linux, and use the rest of the disk as you desire, for linux.
Use /dev/sda1 as /boot, as it only contains some Vista utility crap.
