Some of you might find that using a later BIOS version may help. I think I'm currently running 3.80, on top of which is a 2.6.23 series kernel and alsa courtesy of alsadriver et al rather than in-kernel alsa. This provides sound and ACPI at the same time without passing any options to the kernel on boot. I'm damned if I can work out how to get the GPU fan to operate reliably (some boots it just seems to never turn on, others it runs at a slow speed all the time, others it correctly switches between fan speeds).
