Hi John, glad I could clear some of your doubts.

The problem you are seeing now with weight 0 indicates you have some
sort of trouble with the "service verification" that ldirectord can do
for you.
Just to make it a little simple in the start, try with checktype=connect
in your ldirectord.cf for starters.
(Or make sure you really can get the supposed content for the index.html
page when requesting it using the rs:s ip-addresses (vhost
configuration...))
