Sounds very similar to the set-up that I have - two dedicated
load balancers, although these are in the "High Capacity Highly
Availability and Load Balancing" topology.

I hadn't really thought about it before, but the servers here do
exactly the same thing. They've been working pretty much
flawlessly since December, though, so I don't think it matters.

That doesn't help explaining _why_, but at least you don't need to
worry about it ;-).
