Hi Ron,

There are several different ways of solving this problem.
One is to have bouth the VIP and asterisk managed by linux-ha (heartbeat).

Linux-HA manages resources. And it should be pretty easy to
turn asterisk into a resource by writing a resource-script for it -
something like an init script, but a bit different. That is, if one
doesn't already exist. linux-ha.org should have information on
how to do this. If you can't find it, let me know.
