Hi,

Ultra Monkey is a collection of packages and documentation describing
how to use those packages to achieve various flavours of high availability
and load labancing. At the time that Ultra Monkey was created there
was a lot of working being done on the software it collects and there was
a value in providing a set of packages that is know to work.

These days the underlying software is a lot more mature, for instance
LVS/IPVS has been in the mainline kernel since 2.4.27/2.6.0 and as such
should be included in the kernel supplied with recent distributions.

So the answer is that yes a system as described on the Ultra Monkey site
should run on Ubuntu and Fedora 13. The main component
that you need to install are a heartbeat package. In the case of Ubuntu,
there is a such a package in universe. I believe that it is also included
in Fedora.
