AW: Using mISDN with recent asterisk and Debian

Hi,

if your using normal PC pci or pci-e cards from OpenVox or Digium .. use dahdi it will prevent serious headaches. The BRI support from dahdi isn't the best but a normal setup is running stable on our side for years and compiling dahdi (especially the digium pure one) was easy.

Last time i tried to get mISDN running it was a horrible experience.. i need to hack quite a number of configure script and i even needed to hack a number of lowlevel function calls to deprecated kernel-calls to get mISDN to compile at all and in the end it ran .. not so good.. especially hold & retrieve was running instable and disconnects to full computer crashes were happening once a day a minimum.

Can't say anything about LCR or CAPI... other that the CAPI driver didn't support NT mode at the time i tried to use it .( About 7 years ago)

Asterisk chan_misdn is for an (obsolete) mISDN version 1.
Current, in-kernel mISDN is an incompatible version 2.

Haven't used LCR for few years so can't really help here but from what I see Asterisk 14.6 defines ast_tone_zone_sound in asterisk/indications.h (where LCR's configure.ac expects it) so maybe the issue here is something like missing asterisk-dev or a similar package?

I'm currently using successfully mISDN (v2) in a TE mode with Asterisk 11.23 via chan_capi.

From what I can see current chan_capi supports up to and including Asterisk 13 so some changes may be needed for Asterisk 14 but you can always try it as-is.
