I tried your u23 spec with just a version bump and it appears to work 
ok. One issue with the spec though is it requires chkfontpath which is 
not present on fedora so I just tend to remove the requires on that as 
it's not needed to register fonts on fedora

We have been seeing random jvm segfaults with JBossAS 5.1.0.GA (both zip 
file and jpp6 packages) with u16, u20 and u24 on 64 bit so have actually 
recently switched all our 64 bit application servers to OpenJDK and had 
no issues with clients running the J2EE client app with Sun against an 
OpenJDK server so far
