Installing to an SD card

I need help with this - I want to run F9 on an SD card on my EeePC.  I know 
that many people do this, so I didn't expect problems, especially since I'd 
installed to a usb stick without any problem.  However, when I got to the 
reboot stage I get 'GRUB Geom Error'.  Googling suggests that it's usually a 
BIOS thing, but I've been through every BIOS setting and nothing looks out of 
place.

I know I asked for GRUB to be on the SD card.

Apart from that, I don't know what else to check.  Any ideas, please?
