And of course an hour later we found a workaround.. Adding a
notify-master to each vrrp_instance seems to work:

	notify_master "/sbin/ip  addr change 2a01:798:0:8042::31 dev eth0 preferred_lft 0"


# ip a|grep 2a01:798:0:8042::31
    inet6 2a01:798:0:8042::31/128 scope global deprecated
