What you suggest does indeed deal with the issue of having an IP address
on the interface, but with vmac_xmit_base set, the source MAC address of
the vrrp advertiments is the MAC address of the interface, and not the
Virtual Router MAC address, as required by RFC3768, which makes the
comment:
