You should be able to run evlog user-space without any problem.

Has anyone installed evlog on a system without
the corresponding kernel patch? I realize that
you would not be able to do printk and syslog
msgs forwarding, but what else is impacted?

The reason i ask is that we have evlog running
on an ia64 box and also on several io cards in
an io chassis. These cards are PPC and we only
need the user-space evlog functionality on the
cards (posting and subscribing to events).

Is this a valid configuration? (user space tools
only -- no kernel patch)

Thanks!

/steve
