You should be able to run evlog user-space without any problem. I realize that you would not be able to do printk and syslog msgs forwarding, but what else is impacted? The reason i ask is that we have evlog running on an ia64 box and also on several io cards in an io chassis. These cards are PPC and we only need the user-space evlog functionality on the cards (posting and subscribing to events). Is this a valid configuration?
