Ok - great.  I'm not going to use the event
consolidator on the card or the node but will be
using another user-app task to relay some card
state changes to a task on the node via impi over
ip.

And you're right -- i guess since the syslog
forwarding
is done via ld.so.preload, that wouldn't be dependant
on the kernel at all.
