Streams devices disappear on reboot

Has anyone come across the problem on 2.6 kernels (Red Hat 2.6.9-5.EL in
this case) where all the /dev devices associated with LiS disappear on
reboot. My guess is that udev is removing them but I don't know how to add
them to the udev database. They are definitely there after a make install
but are gone on the next reboot.
